Participate in the development, implementation and monitoring of health and safety systems/programs, standards, procedures and guidelines. Assist in developing an implementation plan, complete with auditing and follow-up components.
Conduct field audits and inspections; assist in identifying required actions and follow-up to ensure completion. Identify and implement various other measures and checks including safety meeting completion, task observations, etc.
Review and evaluate new and changing Provincial regulations/legislation and their impact on the Company.
Administer the Incident Investigation and Reporting process and perform additional tasks as per Supervisor’s direction.
Assist in the return to work program for injured workers.
Monitor and when required, participate in, safety meetings, audits, hazard assessments, etc.
Develop and conduct Health & Safety Training, as required.
Develop, maintain and implement related Emergency Response Plans, including mutual aid relationships with other organizations. Actively participate in AMSA led initiatives including the Mine Rescue Sub-Committee.
Train and provide leadership to the Surface Mine Emergency Response Teams.
High School Diploma or GED.
National Contraction Safety Officer (NCSO) certified.
Emergency Response experience is an asset.
Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation and Code
Excellent coaching, mentoring and facilitation skills through the promotion of an enthusiastic and positive attitude.
